About Us

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

The National Youth Council of Nigeria European Chapter (NYCN EU) is dedicated to empowering and uniting Nigerian youth across Europe.

Our Mission

To create spaces where young Nigerians in Europe can grow, lead, and feel supported. Building stronger communities through connection, learning, and shared purpose.

Our Vision

A confident and united Nigerian youth community across Europe, proud of our heritage and empowered to shape the future wherever we live.

Our Values

We stand on unity, integrity, cultural pride, service, and excellence. Values that guide how we show up for each other and for our communities every day.

Our Reach

With active chapters in more than 10 European countries, we bring together thousands of young Nigerians through events, programmes, and community‑driven initiatives.

OUR STORY

Six Decades of Youth Leadership

The National Youth Council of Nigeria was formally established in 1964, created as a unifying platform for youth organisations across the country and recognised as the official voice of young Nigerians. From the beginning, its purpose was clear: to champion youth development, strengthen civic participation, and create pathways for young people to contribute meaningfully to national progress.

As Nigerians began building communities around the world, the values of the NYCN travelled with them. Young people in the diaspora sought the same sense of belonging, representation, and leadership that the Council had created back home. This natural extension of the NYCN’s mission laid the groundwork for what would become NYCN Europe.

We’ve grown from that shared heritage into a vibrant community of young Nigerians committed to staying connected to our identity while shaping our futures across the continent. Today, we’ve brought together chapters in multiple European countries, offering leadership development, cultural engagement, and opportunities for growth that reflect both our Nigerian roots and our European realities.

Our story is one of continuity and evolution: a legacy that began in 1964 in Nigeria, carried forward by generations of young people who believe in unity, service, and the power of youth to transform communities — wherever they are in the world.
