Following on from our virtual summit to close out the month of February, we want to once again thank everyone who took part. Your presence showed the strong support for open dialogue among diaspora members as we continue working to empower young people and guide future leaders.
We’ve highlighted a few key moments from The Way Forward event and also shared answers from our honourable guests who followed up on the remaining questions asked by participants.
We know many of these answers will be useful to diaspora members who may have similar concerns or know someone who does. If you know anyone who could benefit from this information, please share it so we can keep building our knowledge together and supporting one another across this vibrant and diverse community.
With that in mind, the NYCN Diaspora communications team, along with our executives and president, look forward to meeting you at the upcoming 62nd NYCN Symposium taking place in London on August 22nd, 2026. It will be a great opportunity to connect with fellow advocates of African excellence and youth empowerment. Come along, bring a friend or family member, and let’s continue representing the Nigerian diaspora worldwide while keeping the conversation alive.
We’ll also take time at the event to celebrate the achievements of Nigerian youths in the diaspora. The 62nd NYCN Symposium is shaping up to be an insightful and memorable day.
More information to come.
Q & A from “The Way Forward” Virtual Summit
Q1) If I applied for a visa online and then lost it while I’m abroad (not in Nigeria), is there any way for me to get the visa reissued in the country where I am?
A1) Yes. You can reapply at the location where you currently reside, or apply for an e‑visa online. Kindly visit immigration.gov.ng for more information on the visa application process for Nigerians.
Q2) Is it possible to process a police certificate/character report more than once in a year? It often expires before one can use it.
A2) Yes. It can be applied for as long as it is required by the host country. Providing proof of this requirement will support the application.
Q3) If the automated system is functioning, for example, in Bern, and I can use it to capture my biometrics, would I still need to visit Bern in person to renew my passport?
A3) No. With the ability now to complete the biometric capture process through the NIS Contactless/Self‑Enrolment app, passport renewal can now be completed fully online unless you choose to use the traditional in‑person process.
